Community Collections ​

Overview ​

Collections in LFX Insights come in two flavors. Curated Collections are maintained exclusively by The Linux Foundation and showcase hand-picked groups of projects around themes, foundations, or initiatives. Community Collections are created and shared by any registered user, letting anyone in the open source community organize projects around a topic, technology, or use case that matters to them.

Discovering Collections ​

The Discover Collections page is the starting point for the Collections feature. It presents all collection types on a single page so you can explore what's available without navigating away.

From there you can navigate to three dedicated sections:

Community Collections ​

The Community Collections list shows all public user-generated collections. For each collection, you are able to access the linked projects, but also to Share, Duplicate and Like the collection. If you like a collection, you will be able to see all your liked collections within your My Collections page.

My Collections ​

My Collections is your personal hub for the collections you've created and the ones you've liked. It is split into two subsections:

  • My Created Collections — a grid of your own collections. You will be able to make changes to the collection at any time.
  • Liked Collections — collections you've liked, separated by a labelled divider. Can include Curated, Community, or other users' collections.

How to manage your own Collections ​

You must be signed in to be able to manage Collections.

Create a Collection ​

  1. Click Create collection from any Collections page (top-right button on the Discover page or any list page)
  2. Fill in the collection name, description, visibility setting (Public or Private), and search for and add projects.
  3. Save — the new collection appears in your My Collections page

Add a Project to a Collection ​

An Add to collection button is available on every project detail page in LFX Insights. Clicking it opens a modal where you choose which of your existing collections to add the project to. You can also remove pre-selected items before confirming.

Like a Collection ​

The heart icon is visible on every collection card and on the Collection Detail page header. Liked collections appear in the Liked Collections subsection of My Collections

Share a Collection ​

Click the Share button on the Collection Detail page to open the share flow. Available on both Community collections and your own collections.

Duplicate a Collection ​

Click the duplicate icon on a collection card or on the Collection Detail page to create a copy under your My Collections.

Collection Visibility ​

User-created collections support two visibility states, private and public. Private collections will only be visible to the user that created them. Public collections will be visible in the Community Collections list.
